EX NIHILO

From an early age I grew up in an artistic environment in France in Paris, my mother is a painter and my father is a photographer. They transmitted me the passion, the rigor, the curiosity, their sensitivity and their look on art and on the beauty of every detail of the universe.

After my baccalaureate, I chose the Ateliers de Sèvres as a preparatory school. I was able to express myself freely, to find my style and my world. I then studied interior design and product design at Camondo School in Paris. During all these years of study, I realized in parallel my works in spaghetti. My first creation was created in 2011.

Today, I’m working as an interior designer in an agency in Paris, while continuing to work as an artist.

I feed myself with what surrounds me, draw my imagination from nature, science, anatomy, mechanics, neuroscience, philosophy, music and more.

"Ex-Nihilo" is a project that I initiated a few years ago and which took its essence in the heart of Nature. It comes from the phrase "Ex-Nihilo nihil fit" which means "Nothing comes from nothing". It concerns all my projects, realized or to come.

In nature there is all type of structure; from there came my admiration for the structure. It is not always visible, yet always present, material or immaterial, just like our body, our thoughts and our life.

That is why it was obvious to me to put forward the structure in my works; it became my mode of expression.

My first project was to become aware of the shapes of the human body, its structure and to rework them as an architectural body. The structure would then form an exoskeleton and adorn an inert body protecting it while enclosing it aesthetically in the societal code.

As a result, I needed to find a light, airy and fragile material that could break at any moment and subtly evoke the ephemeral aspect of life and the human body.

Spaghetti was for me an evidence, it gathered all these criteria while being a perishable material.

The artist is not a creator, he shapes and gives us emotions and feelings through his works.

Art is above all a sharing of sensations, it is free in its interpretation. We artists only suggest.
